in the city

Ingleside is a 1920s American Foursquare that has retained much of it's vintage charm, but has been updated with many of the modern conveniences the discerning traveler has come to expect.

We are Jesse and Kristin Dunker, a young-ish couple who recently moved from the country to the city and are enjoying every minute! We have always had a love for the hospitality business, and thought our retirement plan would likely include owning a B&B. But with the widespread growth of the Airbnb movement, we decided: why not jump on the bandwagon and begin integrating this desire into our lives now?Purchasing Ingleside (a historic home just meant to be shared with others) in 2017 was the final piece to the puzzle. After months of planning and renovations, our first guests arrived in March of 2018. We have loved hosting guests from around the world over the past year, and look forward to welcoming you soon!

You'll find each bedroom fitted with 100% cotton sheets, sumptuous blankets, quilts, throws, and soft fluffy towels. Bottled water, easy charging areas for your electronics, and fresh flowers in season are just a few of the things that earn our rooms repeat descriptions of: "gracious and well-appointed" by our guests.

Free Wifi

Wifi is available throughout the house.

The corner bedroom has a weak/spotty signal, but you are welcome to use the keeping room on the main level should you require a strong connection.

The connection in The Cottage Suite is strong and reliable.

Daily housekeeping is optional for guests in the corner room, and for guests in The Cottage staying a week or longer, linen changes and light house keeping is provided on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

In the warmer months, you are welcome to enjoy the gardens of Ingleside. Though we are situated on a small city parcel, currently under construction are: an English cottage garden, a raised vegetable patch, a wildflower cutting garden, and a dahlia bed.

Coffee stations are available to all guests. The upstairs foyer has a Keurig machine, while The Cottage has a classic drip (with optional pour-over) machine.

Light snacks (breakfast bar/fruit) are provided to corner bedroom guests, and easy-fix breakfast options are stocked in The Cottage.

We host many guests looking to relocate to Roanoke and often specifically, to Grandin Village.

We have a Realtor who offers personal tours of the city, and is an expert on Grandin Village life, having lived here himself for over a decade.

Give Thomas Fellers a Ring!

The Roanoke Valley has made it to the world stage when it comes to outdoor adventure. Find some of our most famous hikes and views at the link above.

Grandin Village houses some of the best restaurants around! Local Roots is our all-time-fav, but check out the whole list by clicking "Dining".

The Virginia wine region is rich with diversity and innovation! Several vineyards dot the outskirts of town, and we're total wine nerds, so feel free to ask us for recommendations!

Black Dog Salvage

Black Dog Salvage, of TV's "Salvage Dawgs" fame, is headquartered just a couple blocks away. Spend an entire afternoon taking in all the beautiful artisan wares, and maybe even meet the stars/owners!

The Greenways

Roanoke's Greenway trail system begins right behind Black Dog Salvage. Enjoy a nice run, or rent a bike to take in the natural beauty of the area! You can also get to a few great restaurants via the Greenway.

As is the case around the country, craft breweries have exploded in our area. Four top notch brewers are within a 3 mile radius of Ingleside. Some with live entertainment, others with trivia night...you're sure to find one you love!

Kristin and Jesse's place might be the coziest, most welcoming place on Airbnb. They pay close attention to details that made for a memorable stay. From the warm beverages provided to comfy slippers, it's the little things that make you feel at home here. We only wish we could've stayed longer!

Thank you for contacting us! We'll get back with you as soon as we are able.
