There is an Aubrey Hepburn quote that says:

"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow."

I struggle with the long dark nights of winter in nearly equal measure as I relish them.

Right about February though,

like clockwork,

my hands start itching to get into the dirt.

I long for the life-giving practice of preparing, planting, tending, and harvesting. It seems to be in my DNA to crave. And my body viscerally responds to the call.

The seeds, bulbs, roots that were lovingly planted months...years before - persevere through the darkness and cold to push through the awakening earth to share their message in these last weeks of winter:

- hope -

Tomorrow (spring) is coming!
